Agreement was reached on the qualifications demanded by labour market
In March 2018 educators and employers reached an agreement on the professional qualifications that are demanded in the labour market.
The acquisition of a profession within the framework of the Youth Guarantee will continue until 2023
On August 2017, in order to continue providing the opportunity for young people during one or one and a half year to acquire the occupation demanded in the labor market, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the solution proposed in the informative statement by the Ministry of Education and Science, thus promoting the competitiveness of these young people and their long-term involvement in the labor market. Continuing the development of work based learning
Work based learning (WBL) is a form of vocational education provision in which learners acquire practical skills and knowledge in a real working environment of company (at least half of the study period), but theoretical knowledge is acquired at a vocational education institution. This education form is recognized in the European Union as one of the best ways to motivate students to engage in vocational education.
Career Week (26.-30.11.2012) in five cities of Latvia
During the week of November 26-30 (2012), State Education Development Agency in cooperation with local education boards, general and vocational education establishments, higher education institutions, youth centres, libraries and local enterprises arrange Career Week that will be held simultaneously in five cities of Latvia – Liepāja, Ventspils, Rēzekne, Daugavpils and Valmiera – located in various regions of the country.
The higher level qualifications dominate in the long-term labour force forecasts (June 2012)
In June 2012, the Ministry of Economics published its “Informative Report on the long- and medium-term labour market forecasts”, which outlines the current situation in the Latvian labour market, as well as the medium-term labour market forecasts until 2020 and long-term labour market forecasts until 2030 prepared by the Ministry of Economics are included.
Seminar for youth career specialists “Topicalities, tendencies and forecasts of labour market” (13.04.2012)
On April 13 (2012) the Information and Career Guidance Department of the State Education Development Agency in terms of Euroguidance programme arranges the seminar “Topicalities, tendencies and forecasts of labour market”, which will be held at the State Administration School in Riga (Latvia). The target group for this seminar is career consultants and school teaching staff that are specialised in promoting support for youth career development.
