7208 people have applied for adult education’s second round
EU fund project for adult education “Improvement of the professional competence of the employed persons” (1.01.2017-31.12.2022) implemented by State Education Development Agency in cooperation with municipalities of Latvia, education institutions and the State Employment Agency has received 7565 applications for learning in 63 vocational education institutions.
Support measures to improve professional competences of employed persons will be implemented
The State Education Development Agency (SEDA) and the Central Finance and Contracting Agency have signed an agreement on implementation of a European Social Fund (ESF) project aimed at improving adult professional competence in order to increase the competitiveness of employees and promote the productivity growth. Conference on adult education in Latvia and Europe
On 27 October 2016, the Ministry of Education and Science organized an international conference “Quality in non-formal adult education. EPALE Launch –
Integration of Adult Education of Latvia into European Adult Education Movement (EPALE)” where professionals and experts in adult education evaluated the situation in adult learning in Latvia and analysed the experience of other European countries in organizing adult education.

Plan approved by the government for adult education 2016-2020
In the Cabinet of Ministers meeting on 3 May 2016 the Government approved the “Adult education management model implementation plan for 2016-2020”. The plan provides for the establishment of a unified and sustainable adult education system and is oriented to a transparent and harmonised system activity, taking into account regional needs, medium and long-term labour market forecasts. It will offer high quality education for adults, creating a coherent legislative framework and efficient resource (including financial) administration.
Conference “Lifelong Learning – for the growth and well-being of Latvia” (27.01.2012)
On 27 January (2012), in Livani – town located in the eastern part of Latvia – the National Centre for Education is arranging the final conference of the EU Lifelong Learning Programme project LINKING with the title “Lifelong Learning – for the growth and well-being of Latvia”. The National Centre for Education is a direct state administration institution under the direction of the Ministry of Education and Science, which main functions are related to school education content and state examination issues.
