The amendments also state that after acquiring curriculum learners would gain knowledge, skills, attitudes and competences which are defined in the occupational standards and professional qualification requirements and according to which the content of the vocational teaching/learning subjects or courses (modules) and qualification work placement is formed.
Inter alia, the amendments specify the proportion of theory and work placement in the mandatory content of the curricula, stating that the theory or work placement shall be implemented in the form of work based learning in the amount of at least 25 percent of the total contact lessons.
For the amendments to come into force, after being approved by other institutions (ministries, Employers’ Confederation of Latvia and Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia), they should be approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
