The best companies for implementing apprenticeship type scheme and qualification practice were awarded
On 26 February 2019, at the Latvian Railway History Museum, the Employers’ Confederation of Latvia (ECL) organised an award ceremony “Do and learn – everything has just begun!” dedicated to honouring best apprenticeship type scheme (nationally called “work-based learning”) and qualification practice companies.
Best apprenticeship type scheme companies in 2018: in Kurzeme – “Skandi motors”, Ltd (Liepaja branch); in Zemgale – “Sporta komplekss Zemgale-V”, Ltd; in Latgale – “Zaļā sala R”, Ltd; in Vidzeme – individual merchant “Mazais birojs”; in Riga region – “Elizabetes Centrs” Ltd.
Best qualification practice companies in 2018: in Kurzeme – “IMA autoserviss”, Ltd; in Zemgale – “Sedumi”, Ltd; in Latgale – Daugavpils wagon maintenance point of “Latvijas Dzelzceļš”, SJSC; in Vidzeme – JSC “Valmieras piens”; in Riga region – JSC “Grindeks”.
For the cooperation with ELC and active involvement in the project, special acknowledgement was given to such vocational education institutions as: in Vidzeme – Priekuli Technical School; in Kurzeme – Liepaja State Technical School; in Zemgale – Jelgava Technical School; in Latgale – Daugavpils Technical School of Construction; in Riga – Riga Technical School of Tourism and Creative Industry and Riga State Technical School.
ECL in cooperation with vocational education institutions and companies has been implementing the ESF project “Participation of vocational education learners in work-based learning and qualification practice in companies” (2017-2023), to make skills acquired in vocational education more consistent with real employers’ needs and working conditions. Almost 2000 employers, 39 vocational education institutions and 5000 young people have participated in apprenticeship type schemes and qualification practices.
