Career Week (26.-30.11.2012) in five cities of Latvia
During the week of November 26-30 (2012), State Education Development Agency in cooperation with local education boards, general and vocational education establishments, higher education institutions, youth centres, libraries and local enterprises arrange Career Week that will be held simultaneously in five cities of Latvia – Liepāja, Ventspils, Rēzekne, Daugavpils and Valmiera – located in various regions of the country.
This week will provide opportunity for young people to become more familiar with various occupations, participate in erudition games, visit enterprises and meet career consultants.
The event will be opened in all cities with an erudition game “I will become…” for teams of schools. The game is expected to raise awareness of young people concerning future career, and to broaden their knowledge about the offer of general, vocational and higher education institutions. The national education opportunities database (niid.lv) and Euroguidance study guide in Europe will be presented more thoroughly. Some cities are planning activities for students’ parents.
The Career Week will be concluded with an attraction park “Get familiar with an occupation” that will impart a career maze, in which students will take part in improvised occupational workshops, and professionals will share their experience.
