On Ministry of Welfare website is published The World Bank’s research: who is unemployed, inactive or in need and the research is available for any interested. The research gives an assessment of post-crisis policy options

The research was carried out, since before there was no quality assurance made when the decision makers analysed changes in the society, what was the impact of the crisis on the incomes of inhabitants and stratification of society., as well as about labour market offers/possibilities, the readiness of inhabitants to accept the offered and which groups of inhabitants are under the unemployment risk for longer period of time thus to poverty.

The research answers to several questions:

  • Who are the people who have experienced persistent difficulties in the labour market?
  • Is there evidence of dependence on benefits? What are the options to change the tax and benefit system so as to increase protection at the same time and motivation to work?
  • How does the labour market programmes, what is their impact on the employment opportunities and what we can learn for future policy development?/li>

    The research proposal in the recommendations are indicative, evaluated in the context of the current budgetary situation, includes assessment of the situation in other sectors (education, health, taxation) and are not limited in time.
