On 31 August, 2015 the European Social Fund project “Raising attractiveness of initial vocational education” (EU Fund period 2007-2013) was concluded. During the project vocational education institution students with higher achievements had the opportunity to receive scholarships according to their grades.

The state budget scholarships on average are 15.23 euros per student. They are paid in accordance to the Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 740 “Regulations on Scholarships”.

Therefore, to continue supporting vocational education students, Ministry of Education and Science has found an opportunity to increase the funding available for scholarships. This will enable to pay greater state budget scholarships to vocational education students. The funding of 2015 state budget in the period between September and December has been increased by 2.5 million euros, but in 2016 – 7.5 million euros. An additional funding for the creation of state scholarship foundation has been granted to vocational schools under the Ministry of Education and Science and five local governments’ vocational education institutions, which are financed from the state budget.

Consequently, the average monthly scholarships may be increased up to 46.01 euros per vocational education student.
