Conference on adult education in Latvia and Europe
On 27 October 2016, the Ministry of Education and Science organized an international conference “Quality in non-formal adult education. EPALE Launch –
Integration of Adult Education of Latvia into European Adult Education Movement (EPALE)” where professionals and experts in adult education evaluated the situation in adult learning in Latvia and analysed the experience of other European countries in organizing adult education.
In the presence of the representative of the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Commission Panagiotis Karnavos, the multilingual information platform on adult education in EU – EPALE – was officially launched in the Latvian language. Experts from Switzerland, Lithuania and Estonia presented the national adult education experience in their countries.
Erasmus+ project coordinator Silvija Kārkliņa from the Ministry of Education and Science presented two adult education projects – “National coordinators for implementing the European program in adult education” and “National support system for EPALE” through which the Ministry of Education and Science strengthens the Latvian adult education network and develops the section in Latvian language of the EPALE platform.
