Support measures to improve professional competences of employed persons will be implemented

The State Education Development Agency (SEDA) and the Central Finance and Contracting Agency have signed an agreement on implementation of a European Social Fund (ESF) project aimed at improving adult professional competence in order to increase the competitiveness of employees and promote the productivity growth.

Total eligible project funding is 25,353,413 euros, including ESF funding 21,550,401 euro and the national co-financing of 3,803,012 euros. It will be implemented from 1 January, 2017 to 31 December, 2022, within the framework of the European Union funds operational program “Growth and Employment” specific support target 8.4.1. “To improve the professional competence of employed persons”.

To persons aged 25 the project “Development of professional competence of employed persons” will provide the opportunity to participate in continuing professional education, professional development programs and non-formal education programs, to validate their knowledge, skills and professional competence acquired outside the formal education, as well as provide support measures to involve in training employed persons at risk of social exclusion. In cooperation with local governments a basis for a common and sustainable adult education support system will be established.

Part of the assistance is intended to support people aged 45 or older who work in low-skilled jobs and are most exposed to the risk of unemployment in the near future. Career counselling services will be available to all target groups. Overall, the project will benefit more than 38 thousand persons.
