The first national skills competition for young professionals SkillsLatvia 2017

From 20 to 22 April 2017, Kipsala International Exhibition Centre (Riga) under the slogan “The doer wins!” held the first national competition for young professionals SkillsLatvia 2017, organized by the State Education Development Agency (SEDA).

96 participants from 30 vocational education schools of Latvia had applied for the competition in order to test their skills by competing in 16 professions. During the visiting hours all those interested had the opportunity to see the performance of the competitors, as well as get acquainted with different professions, participate at the career think tanks, test their skills at the profession demonstration stand, as well as obtain information on vocational education institutions and higher education institutions in Latvia.
SkillsLatvia 2017 contestants competed for medals and an opportunity to represent Latvia at international level skill competitions EuroSkills and WorldSkills which have already 60 years of tradition in the world.
The competition was organised within the project “Career support for general and vocational education institution” financed by the European Social Fund and the Latvian state.
