In “EuroSkills 2018” competition Latvian team achieved gold and silver medals and three medals of excellence
“EuroSkills 2018” competition took place in Budapest, Hungary on 29 September 2018, during which Latvian team achieved gold and silver medals and three medals of excellence while competing among 28 countries.
Experts of the competition awarded Elina Skrindževska (Jelgava School of Crafts) and Laura Kreivina (Riga School of Design and Art) with gold medals for high achievements in fashion technologies. Luīze Mihailova (Vocational Education Competency Centre “Liepaja School of Music, Art and Design) was awarded with silver medal in window design. Jānis Ozols (heavy vehicle repair and maintenance, Priekuļi Technical School), Igors Būmanis (information and communication technologies (ICT), Riga Technical College), Ričards Trofimovs (ICT, Priekuļi Technical School) and Gustavs Rācenājs (web page development, Riga Technical College) were awarded with medals of excellence.
Latvian team representatives Laura Kreivina and Elīna Skrindževska were also given the prestige award “Best of nation”, which is awarded to contestants of each country with the highest score.
The competition was attended by 525 young professionals form 28 countries. Latvia was represented by 12 participants who carried out complex international challenges in ten vocational skills contests. Latvia ranked 7th among 28 countries.
“EuroSkills 2018” was attended by approximately 70 000 visitors, 350 media representatives and 700 volunteers.
The participation of Latvia in the competition “EuroSkills 2018” is ensured by State Education Development Agency (SEDA) by implementing project “Career guidance in general and vocational education institutions” which is funded by ESF and state budget.
