Youth Guarantee Project from Latvia got into the “RegioStars Awards 2018” final
EU funds’ project “Implementation of the initial vocational education programmes within the Youth Guarantee” coordinated by the State Education Development Agency (SEDA) has been nominated for the final of “RegioStars Awards 2018”, which is, a competition organized by the European Commission. In total 102 applications were received from 20 EU member states and five from partner states of which 21 projects got into the final.
The projects were selected in five categories:
Category 1: Supporting smart industrial transition;
Category 2: Achieving sustainability through low carbon emissions;
Category 3: Creating better access to public services;
Category 4: Tackling migration challenges;
Category 5: Topic of the year 2018: Investing in cultural heritage.
Youth Guarantee project was nominated in the category for “Creating better access to public services” by expert jury. The project from Latvia is one of five candidates for the main prize.
Voting for projects will begin on 3 July 2018 on the competition website. Within the European Week of Regions and Cities, the winner will be announced in Brussels on 9 October 2018.
Goal of this competition is to emphasize examples of good practice – projects with high added value; thus, educating and inspiring other EU member states. Last year for the first time a project from Latvia got into the final. It was devoted to the support of deaf mothers, and the European inhabitants recognized it as the third best.
