State Education Development Agency (SEDA) initiative – Career week has concluded. It took place in 47 cities and towns of Latvia. At least 114 thousand children and young people participated in more than 140 interactive and educational activities which took place in general and vocational education institutions.
A large number of unemployed are looking for a job for over a year
Number of long-term unemployed (persons who are unemployed for at least 12 months) in 2017 was 32,1 thousand. Of the total number of long-term unemployed, 97,5% are aged 20 to 64, of whom 59,1% are men. In this age group 14,6% of all unemployed were looking for a job more than four years.
In “EuroSkills 2018” competition Latvian team achieved gold and silver medals and three medals of excellence
“EuroSkills 2018” competition took place in Budapest, Hungary on 29 September 2018, during which Latvian team achieved gold and silver medals and three medals of excellence while competing among 28 countries.
The involvement of sectoral specialists in the implementation of vocational education programmes is facilitated
On 11 September 2018, the Cabinet of Ministers approved new “Regulations on education and professional qualification required for teachers and the procedure for improving the professional competence of teachers” (No. 569).
Third round for adult education is open for applications
State Education Development Agency (SEDA) from 15 August until 17 September 2018 is organizing applications for adult learning in terms of ESF project “Improvement of the professional competence of the employed persons”. The employed and self-employed (aged at least 25) can participate in the programme. Candidates can apply for 11 different economic sectors in 70 education institutions all around Latvia.
Application for Youth Guarantee training has concluded
Until 31 August 2018 candidates had an opportunity to apply for Youth Guarantee trainings. Youth Guarantee training organized is by State Education Development Agency (SEDA) since 2014. Applicants aged 15 to 29 could apply for learning programmes, as long as they are not full-time students or they are not on an academic or parental leave.
Preparation has started for mastery competition for young professionals “EuroSkills 2018”
State Education Development Agency (SEDA) organized workshop “Professional development for experts” on 18 July 2018, in which “EuroSkills 2018” Latvian team experts met for the first time to familiarize themselves with main tasks of the competition.
Youth Guarantee Project from Latvia got into the “RegioStars Awards 2018” final
EU funds’ project “Implementation of the initial vocational education programmes within the Youth Guarantee” coordinated by the State Education Development Agency (SEDA) has been nominated for the final of “RegioStars Awards 2018”, which is, a competition organized by the European Commission. In total 102 applications were received from 20 EU member states and five from partner states of which 21 projects got into the final.
