The regulations ensuring the conformity of vocational education with EQF requirements have been adopted

On 26 April 2016 the Cabinet of Ministers adopted regulations, which determine the procedures for implementing the specific objective „To ensure the conformity of vocational education with European qualifications framework” of the priority direction „Education, skills and lifelong learning” 8.5.2. of the operational programme “Growth and employment”.

The aim of the project is to improve the content of the vocational education and, according to the Latvian qualifications framework, update and develop occupational standards and vocational qualification requirements, develop the content of the vocational qualification examinations by introducing the modular approach and providing the necessary means for the qualitative implementation of programmes.

There will be funding invested in the implementation of the project in the amount of EUR 12.9 million, including the funding of European Social Fund EUR 11 million and the co-financing of the State budget EUR 1.8 million.

160 occupational standards and vocational qualification basic requirements will be developed during the project, as well as 184 modular vocational education programmes.

The project will be implemented in close cooperation between the National Centre for Education, State Education Quality Service and the co-operation partners – Employers’ Confederation of Latvia, the Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia and the Latvian Agricultural Organisation Cooperation Council.
